Book comedy comedy comedy drama5/29/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama is inflected with the cheery patter of an old-timey showbiz memoir, offering intermittent life lessons rendered in italics, and with liberal use of exclamation marks and parenthetical asides to the reader. This book is a resolutely unsentimental look at the career, and very occasionally life, of a comedy writer and actor with a chip on his shoulder the size of Manhattan, and enough self-awareness to make this part of his own schtick. “I tried just as hard at the stuff that didn’t work as the stuff that worked,” he says, in a statement both proud and weary, and one that sets the tone for his memoir’s paean to stubborn, dogged persistence, however likely the chance of failure. Early on in Comedy Comedy Comedy Drama, Bob Odenkirk offers a chilling lesson to the reader. ![]()

The candymakers book 25/29/2023 ![]() ![]() I mean, seriously?īut that's a minor quibble. The worst of these was when Daisy did a DNA test in the RV, and then announced that it would take like twenty hours and the data would only be processed while the vehicle was actively in motion. I totally agree with my brother, though, that it was pretty frustrating when the characters teased huge reveals and then waited entire chapters to reveal what they knew. There are few things I love to do more than curl up with a big fat new book by one of my favorite authors, and so I really loved the opportunity to do that with Candymakers 2. It was very cute (and slightly annoying), and definitely heartening to see how perfectly Candymakers 2 captured and held my brother's attention.Īs for me, I definitely enjoyed it. I know he definitely chewed it over even when he wasn't reading: he kept wandering up to meat random times and asking me whether I'd seen such-and-such coming or if I knew how this-or-that tied in with the first book. ![]() When I asked my ten-year-old brother if he liked The Great Chocolate Chase, he said "Yes, but it was kind of annoying how people kept getting important information and then keeping it secret for like forever." When I pressed him and asked how he thought it compared to the first book - which is one of his all-time favorite novels, one of a very elite group of books he's re-read - he surprised me by saying that he thought this book was every bit as good as its predecessor. ![]()

Homegoing gyasi5/28/2023 ![]() ![]() For this essay, I will focus on one sister and how her descendants and their identities were affected. Gyasi illustrates the struggles faced by each generation in the family, which further establishes the cycle of oppression. The novel follows a family’s lineage dating back to the eighteen century. ![]() Homegoing, by Yaa Gyasi, demonstrates the oppression brought on by colonialism, imperialism, and slavery. ![]()

Lightning Wolves by David Lee Summers5/28/2023 ![]() ![]() I really enjoyed listening to the powerhouse collaboration between the author and the narrator ,an epic pairing. It was a delicious morsel of YA fantasy.I wait with abated breath to listen to book 3 in the series. The creations ,the way that they have come it to society and the characters gradual acceptance builds on the superb foundation we got from book one. More of the whimsy more of the steam punk peculiar characters and world. He had me hooked and honestly I could probably listen to him read the phone book but luckily he had this fantastic world to bring to life instead. So I would say a resounding yes to the audiobook having a quality to it that cant be created on a page alone. The book was'nt that short but I found myself wanting more. The book was brilliant but Edward Mittelstedt breathed life in to the story and helped create David Lee Summers' world and characters. ![]() I very much want to follow our quirky characters that we have come to love and rout for over these last two books. This book is the squeal to Owl Dance which is one of the best books I have read this year and this squeal did not disappoint in the least. This book was released about two months after the first book and it is my hope that the third will e coming soon.
